Janet Claridge

Janet Claridge obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto in 1986, following a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Windsor University.  Janet has received additional training including: mediation, understanding family law, and parenting coordination/ arbitration.  She is a founding member of Family Consultants Ottawa.

Janet has a private practice in Ottawa working with families coping with separation and divorce issues.  She offers family mediation, parenting plan assessments, and parenting co-ordination.  In addition, Janet is a children’s therapist for children in foster care, and a clinical investigator with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer.  Previously Janet has worked as a therapist through EAP, as a mediator in the Criminal Courts, and in the area of child welfare.

Janet is actively involved with the Ottawa High Conflict Forum as secretary and chair of professional development.  She is also a member of the Community Services Advisory Committee with the City of Ottawa.

Lena Jones (Retired)

Lena K. Jones received her Master’s degree from the University of Helsinki in 1971, majoring in Child Psychology. Lena is a trained Parenting Coordinator/Arbitrator and an Accredited Family Mediator (O.A.F.M.). She is one of the founding members of Family Consultants Ottawa.

Lena’s professional experience includes 20 years as a Consultant to child welfare agencies providing consultation and assessments in child protection matters. Lena has maintained a private practise in Ottawa since 1991 specialising in services to families involved in high conflict separation and divorce. Her practise includes parenting mediation, consultation, parenting coordination, family arbitration and parent-child reunification counselling. Lena also acts as a consultant and supervisor to professionals who conduct assessments, mediation and parenting coordination.  

Lena has served on numerous interdisciplinary committees involved in developing best practices for services to separated parents and their children. She is an active member of the Ottawa High Conflict Forum.

Sandra Levesque (Retired)

Sandra M. Levesque has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  She obtained her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2002.  Sandra is a founding member of Family Consultants Ottawa.

Sandra has a private counseling practice where she provides counseling for adults and adolescents.  She is also a clinical investigator for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer.  In addition, Sandra completes private parenting plan assessments and she is a trained Parenting Co-ordinator and assists parents in implementing custody and access court orders and parenting plans.

In the past, Sandra contracted out her counseling services where she counseled high-risk children and youth in foster care as well as single mothers between the ages of 14 and 21. 

Sandra is the past President of the Anxiety Disorders Association of Ontario from 2003 to 2006.  She is also a past volunteer for the Community Support Network (Ottawa), Canadian Mothercraft of Ottawa Parenting Companion Program, Ottawa Boys and Girls Club and the Children’s Aid Society.  Sandra is an active volunteer member of the Ottawa High Conflict Forum.

Valerie Morinville

Valerie Morinville has a Bachelor of Arts (psychology) and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Social Work from Carleton University. 

Valerie has a private practice in Ottawa with a focus on assisting families through the separation process.  This work includes consultation for couples who are considering separation or who have separated but find themselves in conflict, as well as the completion of parenting plans and parenting plan assessments (also known as custody and access evaluations).

Valerie has worked with the military and their families in a variety of roles for over 20 years and has extensive knowledge of the military family experience.  She is a founding member of Family Consultants Ottawa.  Valerie is an active member of Collaborative Family Law Ottawa as a relationship specialist. 

Valerie provides services in both English and French.
